Clearance Pineapple Pitcher Tableware Brands|Jugs & Bottles

Stay on trend this summer with the pineapple pitcher. Pineapples were introduced to Europe in the late 15^th century. From that moment onwards, this exotic fruit has been a symbol of prosperity, good cheer and hospitality.

Use to serve iced water at a garden party, or complete the experience by filling with pineapple juice.

This eye-catching pineapple pitcher is from the highly collectible Portuguese ceramics studio, Bordallo Pinheiro. The earthenware jug is cleverly shaped and hand-painted to resemble a realistic pineapple.

The Portuguese ceramics studio, Bordallo Pinheiro, was set up in 1884. Brothers Raphael and Feliciano Bordallo Pinheiro started the venture, and many of the pieces today are still made to Raphael’s designs. In only twenty-one years, Bordallo Pinheiro’s bold, artistic ceramics gained international recognition. Raphael took inspiration from the flora and fauna around his home town of Caldas, as well as drawing on ideas from the Renaissance and from the Art Nouveau & Naturalism movements.
